1. CONTACT

Initial contact with client to arrange a suitable time to meet onsite;

  • Phone or email contact us

2.  SITE EVAULATION:

Every job is different in it’s own way so during the first visit the site will be evaluated which will entail;

  • Ground / Flooring Inspection; Depending on the surface installing on being either Internal or external install

  • Drainage Requirements; What will be required to provide the correct amount of drainage for the designated site

  • Access Requirements; Accessibility to the area being transformed. Surface protection of surrounding areas if site is far away and a ramp setup is required

  • Loading Areas; Materials being delivered/unloaded/loaded during various installation stages (cleanfill, hardfill, waste etc)

  • Parking & Logistics; The proximity of parking to the site

  • Client Requests; Making sure each special request from the client is included in the costing & evaluating process for the start of the project

3. SITE MEASURE:

Two stage measure up of site;

  1. Square meterage of the site;

  2. Measuring of the actual area of site

Square meterage of turf quantity required;

Measuring of correct turf quantity required to cover area whilst working with various product roll width dimensions. Roll widths vary in size from 1.8m to 3.7-4m

4. SITE PREPARATION & GROUNDWORKS:

Depending on the type of install and if site preparation has been agreed upon;

Internal Install;

Surface of the area to be laid upon is sufficiently cleaned of all dirt, dust, and any other debris that may affect the quality of the fixing applications to be applied whether it be Glue, Tape or Staple.

External Install (Timber/Tile/Concrete Surfaces);

Surface of the area to be laid upon is water blasted of all dirt, dust, debris, loose plants material & vegetation and anything else that may affect the quality of the fixing applications to be applied whether it be Glue, Tape or Staple. This will help ensure the best results for the fixing application selected.

External Install (Existing lawn, Ground Surface);

Ground will be dug up between 80-120mm dependent on the site evaluation.  If the site is at high risk of flooding or in a ‘wet zone’ then 150-250mm of clean fill can be removed.

5. FORMWORK & BOXING:

Any formwork/boxing to be done will be carried at this point;

Will provide substrate containment and also provide additional strength for the final fix down of the artificial turf if the area is in a ‘high foot traffic area’.

6. GEOTEXTILE & GROUND STABILISATION:

Geotextile Layer Installed;

We use the commercial geotextile Mud Stop which is a high quality material installed before the substrate stage for better ground stabilisation of the hard fill about to be laid. It also reduces substrate lost by providing separation between the exposed soil bed and the aggregate chip which allows for a much more efficient installation.

Also helps reduce and slow the growth of weeds & vegetation coming through the top surface of the grass.

7. HARDFILL STAGE:

The hard fill stage is an important process and provides the main drainage for the synthetic grass;

The amount of substrate required to provide adequate drainage for the site is evaluated during the initial site visit.

Substrate Layers;

Once the depth of soil to be removed has been calculated, the quantity and amount of various aggregate layers is calculated from this. Starting from the larger chip Gap40, to Gap 20 to the finishing layer of Gap 7 to provide a flat, level surface ready for laying the artificial turf.

“The better the prep work (groundworks), the better the final result”

8. GRASS INSTALLATION:

Artificial turf is laid out into place from it’s original roll form;

If possible turf will be left alone for a while once rolled out to allow the piles to relax and settle into a more upright position naturally. From there the grass is stretched/kicked into position

The turf is then ‘cut-in’ to it’s final position

Seams that are required in the area are completed using seam tapes, joining tape and turf adhesive to fuse the separate pieces together

Once seamed the final ‘cut-in’ takes place then the synthetic grass is fixed using various methods;

130mm-230mm Landscaping pins, 125-150mm Turf Nails, Turf adhesive, or external staples. The type of fixings will obviously depend on the type of job is being undertaken.

9. SAND INFILL:

Where applicable in external or internal installs;

Silica Sand infill is dropped onto the top of the synthetic grass using a sand dropper for an even spread.

Rubber Infill available if working internally or on a sport specific surface.

Silica sand is then brushed into the turf using Power Groomers which helps increase the speed the infill filters underneath the grass pile to the base layer.

10. FINAL WASH DOWN & CLEAN UP:

Final wash of completed turf area to remove any dust, dirt & debris left behind;

Final clean up and wash down of entire site including access routes, loading/delivery bays (water blasted if required or necessary) & surrounding areas around the completed install (garden beds, decking, staircases, footpaths etc).

We aim to leave the site in the same state, if not in a better state than before the works were undertaken.

11. MAINTENANCE & AFTERCARE:

Optional arrangement of scheduled ongoing maintenance of artificial turf area;

Aftercare plans tailored for each client’s specific requirements & needs for their synthetic grass area.
